Proposed Texas eminent domain legislation

March 13, 2017 Posted in Articles, Eminent Domain/Condemnation

Some Republican lawmakers are pushing for legislation that will make eminent domain laws lean in favor of the landowners rather than pipeline and powerline companies. Among this proposed legislation are laws that will require the condemning authority to spell out exactly what the taken land would be used for. The proposed legislation would also protect landowners from being denied compensation in certain circumstances if the company later declares bankruptcy.
