Barron Adler Client, LoneStar Airport Holdings, Awarded $90 Million in Damages in Eminent Domain Case
On February 6, the ongoing eminent domain dispute surrounding the South Terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport reached a turning point when the City of Austin was ordered to pay $90 million to LoneStar Airport Holdings, 47 times the amount the city initially offered.
Barron, Adler, Clough & Oddo, PLLC represents LoneStar in its eminent domain case and secured the award.
The City initially offered LoneStar $1.9 million last June in an effort to end the private company’s 40-year lease to operate the South Terminal, an agreement that began in 2016. The City of Austin is pursuing the condemnation of the lease in connection with its Airport Expansion project.
What happens next?
The $90 million was awarded by a panel of special commissioners appointed by Judge Guy Herman, Probate Judge of Travis County.
LoneStar Airport Holdings and the City of Austin can appeal the award, which would extend the litigation.
