Stephen I. Adler, attorney for Monarch Utilities, was quoted in the Fort Worth Star Telegram on June 25, 2013. The community of Blue Mound wanted to take over the water system from Monarch Utilities, a subsidiary of California-based SouthWest Water Co., due to rate increases over several years. Blue Mound filed a condemnation petition in district court. Recently, a Tarrant County civil court judge ruled that the city lacked the authority to condemn it.
Stephen I. Adler was quoted saying "Monarch believes that a government's power is not absolute. If a city is allowed to condemn a private business, then we are all on a slippery slope."
